What is First Night?

First Night Newtown is a family oriented, alcohol-free, arts based community New Years Eve celebration, which will take place at Council Rock High School North and Newtown Middle School. We are offering a fun and cultural evening to spend with family and friends.

First Night Newtown is celebrating its 10th year this year. Since it's inception in 1999, First Night Newtown has attracted thousands of people to Newtown - Families, friends and the entire community come together with one common goal, to celebrate the arts and the start of a New Year.

The children's entertainment venue will be at Council Rock High School North. The event will begin at 3:00 and will feature Pony Express Amusements, crafts, hat & mask making, caricatures, face painting, puppet shows and Steve Pullera and His Cool Beans Band will perform (check the schedule for times).

This year we welcome back the "Russian American Kids Circus" as our headliner this year, they will perform one 90 minute show and workshop in the Council Rock North H.S. auditorium. The VooDUDES are booked to come back this year as well, they will perform at the Newtown Middle School. This will be year #2 for our "Newtown Idol" contest finals, the location where it will be held to be announced. We will have the Better Way Farms, Belgian Horse Drawn wagon rides, Mummers, teen rock bands, dancers and much more... As Executive Director, I am very aware of the effort all of our committee members put forth to make this event happen. I want to thank everyone in advance, our Steering Committee members, our Board members and our many volunteers who will make this year's First Night 2008 a success. All in all, we have a grand night planned to usher in 2008.
